April - Ada by Momo Kapor

April - Ada by Momo Kapor

First book I read from Momo was "Una". I connected with "Una" very much because it tells a story about a big, impossible love. As you already know, I love those. After "Una" I have read many that I have deeply enjoyed in. Momo's books are my first choice for longer travel adventures. I read "Hej, nisam ti to pričala (Hey, I still haven't told you about that thing)" while traveling in Suzhou last month.

From "Ada" I have big expectations. I know how it feels to have one happy place in your life. Mine means everything to me. I'm super excited to see what Ada means to Momo.

He floated downstream, against a depressed cloud from which the November rain spilled over the deserted river. Although I held the helm firmly in my hands, I did not know where I was sailing, but I was in a hurry to get there as soon as possible.

"Each of us has our own 'happy place'. It's the place we turn to when we need comfort, but also the place we go to be exactly who we are, without beautifying filters. Dad's happy place was, without a doubt, Ada Ciganlija."
Our ship was called 'Ada' and it was waiting, neatly moored, always ready to receive its strange, noisy crew. When I think about those days, I remember a place on the Sava where we always turned off the engine and let the boat "trickle" down the river. Happiness is in small things, so even today, so many years later, the thought of that fills me with peace and contentment."
From the foreword by Anna Kapor

Mome Kapor Ada's novel, first published back in 1977 in the "Hit" library, very quickly went through numerous editions and thus confirmed the great popularity of this author. Laguna's new edition offers those who have not encountered the literature of Moma Kapor until now to get acquainted with the prose of one of the most widely read writers of this region. The author's illustrations accompany the book and complete the story of the Sava River and the unusual inhabitants of its banks.
